LAPEER — The North Branch community was deeply saddened by the loss of Kendall Coulter, a remarkable student who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. In celebration of Kendall’s life and aspirations to have a career in the medical field, her parents, in collaboration with the Lapeer County Community Foundation (LCCF), last year were proud to announce the creation of the Kendall Coulter Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Coulter, killed in a May 2023 UTV crash in North Branch Township, was a bright and friendly young lady with big life goals. She was 17. She loved helping others and was a true friend to all. She didn’t care about your skin color or if you had a disability, she was your friend. This friendship extended to her love of animals, including the many strays that found a home with her. She stood up for the ones she loved and the ones who didn’t have the voice to defend themselves. Her kindness changed the lives of those around her in lasting and positive ways.

The Kendall Coulter Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to ensure that Kendall’s legacy lives on through the success and achievements of future students. The scholarship will provide financial assistance to deserving individuals from Lapeer County who share Kendall’s enthusiasm for learning.

The scholarship will be open to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to a future career in a medical or allied health field and who have attended the Lapeer County Education and Technology Center in Attica Township, which played a meaningful role in Kendall’s education journey. Kendall had future dreams of becoming a physical therapist after high school.

“We welcome the Kendall Coulter Memorial Scholarship Fund to the LCCF family of funds and are honored that the Coulter family chose to establish this memorial fund through the Lapeer County Community Foundation,” said Nancy Boxey, executive director of the LCCF. “Kendall’s spirit and future dreams will impact local students for generations.”

Hey i am Arif
I have a love for wildlife and in particular birds as they are so easy to get a close look at. I love to talk about birds, research them, go birding, birdwatch in my backyard and keep a few as pets. I wanted to share this love of birds with everyone so you can also appreciate these fascinating creatures.

I attend bird walks and talks whenever I get the chance so that I can learn more from the experts. There is always something new to learn or see with birding.

After studying a natural sciences degree I then entered the corporate world working for online travel companies. We now live in a forest and near a beach and I have not looked back since. You can usually find me out paddleboarding or kayaking or hiking through the forest, always with some binoculars!

I am here to help you find all the information you need about bird identification, birding tips, backyard bird watching, bird facts with guides, and free printables.
