Community Foundation of the Ozarks offering more than $1 million in scholarships under a new universal application

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) is now offering a new universal application so students can more efficiently apply for scholarships.

Students can apply now for $1.7 million in scholarships with the new system. This universal application is a comprehensive online form with questions unique to each student. The universal application will pair students with the scholarship opportunities they qualify for based on their responses. CFO directors said the system will save students time while identifying scholarships they might not have known about.

Aaron Scott, with the CFO, said the foundation offers many scholarships, and now it’s easier for students to apply for them.

“We also have scholarships available for continuing college students, graduate students, and students attending technical colleges. If you went to school somewhere in the Ozarks, we likely have scholarships you can apply for,” Scott said.

Elizabeth Bowie graduated from Strafford last year and received scholarships through CFO. She gave some advice for students wanting to apply.

“It’s so worth it. It doesn’t always seem very hopeful when you’re applying for so many scholarships and knowing there are so many other students doing it. I can imagine a lot of Springfield students coming from larger schools probably feel that pressure a lot more heavily than I did, knowing that all their peers were applying, too. But at the end of the day, it is worth it, and even if you don’t get the scholarship you’re looking for, the essay and the experience will help you in the future,” Bowie said.

Bowie said she understands how difficult it can be to apply for scholarships.

“It is really tedious, and it’s really hard to go through hundreds of applications and then have to eliminate them one by one, and at times, it’s very discouraging. To be able to scroll through one application, to know exactly what essays you need to write, to just be able to check a box one time is going to be so useful and way more time efficient,” she said.

Applications opened at the beginning of this year. Most will close by March 24. More information about the CFO’s scholarship opportunities and application process is available on its website.

Hey i am Arif
I have a love for wildlife and in particular birds as they are so easy to get a close look at. I love to talk about birds, research them, go birding, birdwatch in my backyard and keep a few as pets. I wanted to share this love of birds with everyone so you can also appreciate these fascinating creatures.

I attend bird walks and talks whenever I get the chance so that I can learn more from the experts. There is always something new to learn or see with birding.

After studying a natural sciences degree I then entered the corporate world working for online travel companies. We now live in a forest and near a beach and I have not looked back since. You can usually find me out paddleboarding or kayaking or hiking through the forest, always with some binoculars!

I am here to help you find all the information you need about bird identification, birding tips, backyard bird watching, bird facts with guides, and free printables.
