Apple Introduces AirPods 4 With H2 Chip, Noise Cancellation

Apple introduced AirPods 4, its fourth-generation earbuds, during the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event hosted at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, on Monday.

It will be released in two distinct models: AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Both offer a brand-new fit and an array of powerful features and capabilities.

According to the Cupertino tech giant, AirPods 4 are the most advanced and comfortable headphones the company has ever created with an open-ear design.

It is built with an unparalleled data set that uses advanced modeling tools like 3D photogrammetry and laser topography to analyze “thousands of ear shapes and over 50 million individual data points in total.” This helped Apple deliver the most comfortable AirPods ever with one shape that naturally fits even more users worldwide.

Powered by the H2 chip, the new-gen AirPods offer high-quality audio. They feature an entirely new acoustic architecture, low-distortion driver, and high dynamic range amplifier.

They support Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, creating a three-dimensional listening experience for music, TV shows, movies, games, and more.

Further, the new AirPods 4 unlocks intelligent audio experiences, such as Voice Isolation for clearer calls and gesture-based Siri controls.

For instance, the Siri Interaction feature allows users to simply nod their heads yes or gently shake their heads no to respond to Siri’s questions.

“For even more control, AirPods 4 also feature a new force sensor on the stem to play or pause media and mute or end calls with a quick press. Thanks to the H2 chip, AirPods 4 are also great for gaming, delivering low wireless audio latency and excellent voice quality when chatting with teammates and other players, including support for 16-bit, 48kHz audio,” Apple wrote in its press release.

For the first time, Apple has brought AirPods 4 with ANC to an open-ear design with upgraded microphones, the H2 chip, and advanced computational audio to help reduce environmental noise like airplane engines, city traffic, and more.

This AirPods also features intelligent features like Transparency mode to keep users aware of their environment, Adaptive Audio that adjusts based on the conditions of a user’s environment, and Conversation Awareness that lowers the user’s media volume when engaging with others nearby.

Both AirPods 4 models now come with USB Type C charging capabilities with 30 hours of listening time with the case.

For AirPods 4 with ANC, you can recharge the case using an Apple Watch charger or a Qicertified charger.

Further, the charging case of Airpods 4 with ANC also includes a built-in speaker for “Find My” capability, which requires iOS 18 or later.

Additionally, you can connect AirPods 4 instantly with every device connected to your Apple ID. Just place the AirPods near your iPhone or iPad and tap Connect.

Furthermore, AirPods 4 and the charging case are rated IP54 (dust, sweat, and water resistant), meaning they can withstand anything from rain to heavy workouts.

The standard Apple AirPods 4 will be sold for $129, while the model with active noise cancellation costs $179.

Pre-orders for these models have already started on apple.com/store/in and will be available for purchase beginning Friday, September 20.
